Volunteer in India, the elephants in Jaipur have a long history of being part of religious and Indian cultural ceremonies for centuries.  Today in Jaipur, the main use for Elephants is with the tourist trade. By joining this program you will have an unforgettable experience learning about elephants and contributing help to their mahouts (riders & care takers).

Volunteers will involve themselves into each activity that mahouts do every day.  This means  making food bundles, feeding elephants, cleaning their shelters, washing them, massaging their head, trimming their nails, decorating them before going for a ride and simply to enjoy their presence. 

*Imp: The transportation in not included to the program. The transportation cost is around US$10 - 12 a day by Tuk-tuk (motorcycle ride) can be divided between 2 - 3 volunteers (30km ride).

Overview

  • Project length: From 2 week to 8 weeks
  • Project dates: Year round. Choose any date to arrive.

  • Accommodation: Shared volunteer apartment
  • Meals: 3 per day (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Requirement: $50 per week government fee (India)
  • Airlines: Jet airways, Spice jet, Etihad, Indigo, Go Air, Air India etc.
  • Vaccinations: Routine Vac, Hep A, typhoid wwwnc.cdc.gov

Program schedule

  • Program starts and ends in Jaipur City
  • Monday to Friday volunteering. 30-40 hours per week
  • Weekends free to sightseeing, camel safari, elephant safari, Taj Mahal etc.
  • Typical shift work can be: 11:30am - 5:30pm
  • Support: Local ABV Director support 24/7 during placement

Included:

  • Pick-up from Jaipur Airport
  • Traditional Indian welcome on reaching the ABV house or host family
  • A detailed orientation about India, ABV projects, facts about India, cultural responsibility and things to remember in India

Not included:

  • Airfare, Visa, Insurance, Local transportation, US$50 a week fee Gov. tax paid to ABV prior traveling. Vaccinations, local sightseeing and all personal expenses. Cultural classes like Hindi class, Indian dress workshop, Yoga class, cooking class only for the volunteers who stays in ABV house. (extra Fees apply)

Through your program fee contribution our non-profit charity organization can operate beneficial humanitarian aid programs which are successful and continuous supported year round.

Local, professional full-time coordinators, placement logistics, airport pick up and departure transportation, arrival orientation, food & local accommodations, are a major part of providing a safe, meaningful volunteer experience. When you join A Broader View, you will receive pre-trip visa and vaccination support, assistance with flights, fundraising planning, through our interactive online volunteer portal.
