Volunteer Tanzania Volunteering Abroad Child Care Assistance Missions

Volunteers needed for primary level education (ages 5yrs-10yrs) to teach English, math and other subjects. The teaching program provides supplementary lessons at the orphanage for its children as well as children from the local community.

The primary role of volunteers is to teach supplementary lessons twice a day to orphanage and community children. Additionally, volunteers provide activities and teach pre-school children aged 2 to 6. As a result of these lessons, the orphanage children tend to do better than their peers in the national examinations. Class size varies 5-15 children, depending on the volunteers. The reality is that all the children are desperate to learn, and anyone who has completed their education at school or college in a developed country can make a valuable contribution.. Prior teaching experience is not required; volunteer simply need an open mind, caring spirit and a compassionate nature. We do recommend you learn a few words and phrases of Swahili, which will be very helpful with the children.
