What was your favorite memory of this trip?
My favorite thing was seeing all the amazing places in Ecuador and becoming very close with my host family.
What was the most difficult thing you experienced?
Definitely the food change. There was no where near as much meat as I was used to.
What was the one thing you wished you were better prepared for?
I wish I had brought more money to buy snacks to keep in my room.
Any tips for future volunteers… (clothing, travel, personal items, donations, sightseeing etc)
Definitely don't bring nice shoes because they will get very dirty during your stay even in the city.
How would you describe/rate your experience working with the ABV staff in the USA?They were very helpful and I didn't have any trouble with connecting or trying to get information from them.
How was the local ABV Director and the support provided in-country?
Also very helpful and nice.
Personal Paragraph (ABV Program Testimonial):
I spent an amazing 8 weeks in Quito, Ecuador. I got to visit lots of amazing places and had incredible experiences in my free time and while volunteering. The people in Ecuador are super friendly and became great friends with many people all over the country. I also grew very close with my host family and have memories that I will never forget with them. Those 8 weeks were by far the most incredible weeks of my entire life.
Are you willing to speak to other potential ABV volunteers?
Yes, but email is best.
