Volunteer in Colombia: Therapy/Rehabilitation program (La Mesa)

Physical Therapy / Rehabilitation

A Broader View provides physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational volunteer options depending on your background and skill level. Gain knowledge while working alongside experienced professionals in their field. Daily tasks will widely vary, students will observe professionals as they provide daily prohibitional aid to patients.

Therapy volunteer options provide the chance to help people rehabilitate after severe accidents and regain strength in order to shorten recovery time. In addition, therapy volunteers work with a variety of people from different cultures. This is a great way to learn about healthcare in another country. Plus, there isn’t much that’s better than gaining international experience while helping people with disabilities or injuries at the same time!.

A licensed therapist will have hands-on opportunities to provide direct assistance to patients in the following areas::

  • General physical therapy
    Rehabilitation sessions with patients
    Working with injured patients
    Working with disabled patients
Working with speech or hearing impaired

Interning abroad is one of the best ways to gain real-world experience working with professionals. Through observation, international interns will gain a broader perspective on the relationship between patient and provider. Including an international internship on a resume indicates a highly motivated individual with enhanced cultural awareness in addition to a commitment to the field of occupational therapy.
