Volunteer Survey Mary Pangalangan in Belize Orphanage program Dayton University

I didn’t know what to expect when I came to Belize. But I have been pleasantly surprised by the extremely friendly people. The accommodations at the orphanage, and the beautiful climate. The kids are great and I’m so happy that I come and get the chance to get to know them.

1. How would you describe/rate the support provided by our in-country Coordinator & staff?
Everybody was very friendly and Ms. Agata was great. She told us all about the orphanage  and was a good chat.

2. What is your favorite memory of your trip?
Wednesday we got to go on a boat, snorkeling and lay in the sun, but it was great to come back and see the kids too. I’m grateful for the chance to see both rides of Belize.

3. What was most personally challenging aspect of this program for you?
I felt homesick and missed my friends and family at home.

4. Any tips for future volunteers… (clothing, sightseeing spots, tours, packing etc)
If you get a chance to go on Amir’s boat take it! Bring lots of bug spray and the kids love making bracelets with us so bring crafts.
